89.3 KOHL is an FM radio station broadcasting in Fremont, California. KOHL serves listeners in the Tri-Cities (Fremont/Union City/Newark) and the Tri-Valley (Livermore/Pleasanton) California. Its broadcasting location puts it in the middle of the San Francisco/San Jose metroplex.

KOHL is licensed as “non-commercial, educational” by the FCC to the Ohlone Community College District.  It serves as the Ohlone College Radio Broadcasting Program’s instructional facility. The program provides real-world, hands-on experience to students who want to explore radio broadcasting careers.

Industry professionals teach the program’s courses and labs. Combined with real, on-air experience, students develop the skills needed to succeed as a talent in today’s radio business. The KOHL studios feature analog, digital, and digital multi-track production equipment and modern music scheduling and broadcast automation software.

The up-tempo, contemporary hit music format (CHR) of the station helps students hone energetic, focused on-air delivery techniques and public speaking skills.
